I have an old motor that you have to wrap the rope around the flywheel and then pull to start you adjust the fuel and timing on the front to go faster the numbers 550123 are on the top of the flywheel and they are the only numbers that I can find on the motor It has been repainted in the past with the words Johnson on the fuel tank but cannot reference thes numbers to any Johnson it runs well and would like to restore it to origional, It has been in the family for years can anybody help?

I was given an Evinrude Lightwin outboard, Model 3012 that has sat for quite some time. It came with no manual (I am not sure English was a written language when this motor came out!) and am wondering what is the purpose and how to use the two "rich lean valves" under the throttle? One is large, the other is small. Where should these be set when starting the engine? Any hints or tips at getting this engine to run smoothly and without smoking too much would be most appreciated. It starts and runs but rattles a lot and smokes a bit more then is politically correct. Thanks John Danicic
