Thanks for visiting. Mine did that way and it turned out that the motor was overheating. I had water sputtering out of the lower unit so I knew the water pump was working but water was not actually circulating through the powerhead. Make sure that the cylinder head is not getting too how. You should be able to touch it without burning itself. Try splashing some water on the head to make sure it does not sizzle.
