Hola! No question here. Just food for thought. I recently bought a '67 3 hp folding job that runs like a champ. It goes full throttle without missing and putts smoothly at just above idle. However...this was not my experience when I had it in the barrel, where it kicked and sputtered. I can only assume that the cavitation in the barrel caused it to appear that the motor was missing badly. Once I put it on the dinghy it ran better than I'd ever hoped for. And I've changed my mind about asking a question: How do I get to the impeller?

I am also working on the same motor but a 1958 Johnson. My friends tell me that the dual line gas tanks on those things are often a problem. They sell kits to replace the seals on the gas tanks. I may either do that or find a way to change over to a more moden fuel pump and tank. Hopefully we can share our experiences and have our motors up and running in time to enjoy the summer.
