Hi does anyone have any tips on clearing blockage (unknown type) in water pipe above the water pump. I have poured boiling water in and it is not flowing, plus, I have tried blowing through (can get no air in). when i invert the engine (lower unit removed) and pour water in, water finds its way quickly through the outlets and to the tell tale - so the blockage is not at this part. Could this be a blockage such as dirt, or salt, or is it possible there is a thermastat above the water pipe that does not let water through until it heats up? Is it supposed to function like this? Thanks

high speed bottom one 3/4 turn from LIGHTLY SEATED low speed or top one 1 1/2 turns get your self a seloc manual 1956-70 1 1/2-40 HP you may have a 55 motor but they dont go back that far I got mine form www.overstock.com for $25.00 well worth it. the 1952-1967 3hp motors were pretty much all the same motors
