Hello All, Tom you sight is the best. It covers all the basics and give me the little added confidence boost to tune my own outboards. Right now a I have two questions: 1) a guy wants to pay me to tune his little 3 hp and asked how much I would charge him for labor if he provides the parts. Its an old '55 Johnson that has been sitting in a shop for the last 20 years. It took some cleaning up. So, how much does a tune up cost, then I will knock %25 off since I am new at this. 2) I have a early 1970's 4 hp Johnson. The spark plugs are wet with gas and my spark plugs are getting a weak spark. It firrs and runs sometimes but not consistantly. I can't decide between an electical problem or the carb rich/lean settings. I don't know what the rich/lean settings on Slow/fast should be. Any help would be great. thanks Luke ldmcdona@yahoo.com

high speed bottom one 3/4 turn from LIGHTLY SEATED low speed or top one 1 1/2 turns get your self a seloc manual 1956-70 1 1/2-40 HP you may have a 55 motor but they dont go back that far I got mine form www.overstock.com for $25.00 well worth it. the 1952-1967 3hp motors were pretty much all the same motors
