My 25 hp Johnson starts without a problem but will not stay running. it runs for 10-20 seconds before it dies. The ball stays hard so there is no pressure loss in the fuel line. Fuel is mixed 50:1 and is clean. If anyone has any advice please respond, the BASS are on their way and the only thing holding me back is my motor. B-RAD

I did as you suggested. The black ground wires were on the opposite side of the coils so we changed them around. We did get at least one spark on each wire so we are hoping that the failed revolutions were just due to poor grounding. Tomorrow we should have the motor ready for a test run. Here is hoping the thing will start. Our next project will be a 1976 2hp Evinrude. The owner who donated it said that the reed valve mounting screws were stripped and that the lower end gear housing takes in small amounts of water over time. I have not investigated this yet but will probably be looking for the thread size to tap the hole. I will have more specific details in a couple of weeks when we really get into the project.
