I have great running Johnson 3 Hp, JW-17 outboard motor I resently acquired. The decal on the motor recommends either S.A.E 30 wt oil or Outboard oil to be mixed with the gas. What kind of Outboard oil do you recommend? I'm sure synthetic oil was not around in the sixties, it's seems that is all that is on the shelfs now a days! Will unleaded gas do any harm (10% ethenol)? Thanks.

Very nice website, and an very interesting article, about the Lightwin. I enheritet an 3 HP 1958 Evinrude Lightwin, in fair condicion, been used less then 200 hours. Mecanical state is god, needs new rubberrings for the high and lo adjustment and a new float, its smeared in old oil and goes apart when i try to clean it. The ignition needs the Tune-up, you discribe, the coils are in the same condision, the epoxy is faling apart.
