I have a 73 johnson 9.5 I had it checked over last Septrember and took it north moose hunting. The motor starts great and runs well the problem is at times at full throttle it seems to be missing rpms it acts like its only 3/4 throttle. If you hold it at full throttle for awhile it might suddenly clear up and it gains all its Rpms back then in a few minutes it might go back to the way it was or it might be good until the throttle is backed off. It seemed as the week went by it seemed to act up more often and at a longer duration. Any ideas?

Milford, Thanks for visiting. Yes, the magnedo ignitions in all OMC boat motors are basically the same. You want to verify the part numbers you need for your particular motor because they may be different because your motor is bigger. A quick check in my Siara catelog shows the same coils 18-5181 but a different number for the Ignition Tune-Up Kit 18-5002. Once you learn to work on one magnedo ignition system, you can work on any of them. The same is true for carburetors.
