installed a new Mikuni fuel pump per instructions on this site. motor runs only a short time it does not seem to be pushing the fuel in although there is fuel in the lines.I blocked one of the ports using a piece of vacuum line filled with silicone. Any ideas?

I don't see how. The color and the gold sea-horse are pretty well sealed up in that thick clear plastic. Maybe someone out there has an idea. You may get lucky and find a better looking one by checking with dealers, junkyards, or e-bay. That happened to me, about 10 years ago I bought a new-old-stock one for a 35hp at my local dealer. I just got an idea. I'll check and get back to you.
