I think that you will get several different opinions and there is no real answer. You may even get conflicting recommendatins from OMC and the oil manufacturers. You see, when these motors were built, OMC put out instructions on mixing the oil and gas which was available at the time. Oil quality was not nearly what it is today and gasoline was quite a bit different also. Back then, Some of the instructions were for 30 weight oil and leaded gasoline! The two main ways to mix gans in oil today is either with a 24:1 or a 50:1 mixture of TCW-3 rated oil to 87 octaine gasoline. Some of the older motors, mostly before 1964 or 1965 used needle bearings which requrie more oil to libricate properly so the recommendation there is to use 24:1. Newer motors have better bearings which require less oil. A lot of repair shops use 32:1 mixture for everything. You can't go too wrong by having too much oil. You might make some smoke but it will not hurt your motor. TCW-3 is the latest evolution in 2 Cycle oil and is greatly improved in both lubrication and clean burning. Mixing oil is not an exact science and the main thing is to be sure you have enough to properly lubricate your motor.
